Wednesday's Wonder: Love Blocks

So if you have been wondering where I have been the last few days then I can proudly say that I have been squashed under a mountain of spring cleaning, which I have conquered at last! :-) I love the spring and I love the results that come from a proper spring clean. The Spring decorations are out, the cuboards are clean, and I feel very happy! I also started a detox diet yesterday to give myself a personal spring clean. I really love this time of the year! A time for fresh starts and a renewal of life.

So here is Wednesday's Wonder, a day late. Now that the house is out the way I can immerse myself in blogging bliss and return to my normal Humble Homemaking Schedule I hope! Thanks for being such wonderful, patient followers.

Yesterday I made these wooden blocks! I love how they came out and can't wait to make some more.

Here is the tutorial....
1. Take some Wooden Blocks. Size doesn't matter.

2. This is a tip I am sure most of you know but is new to me. Wrap your sanding paper around a wooden block for easier sanding. Kind of obvious I know, but still new for me. lol.

3. Sand your blocks to give them a nice clean finish.

4. I mixed my paint to the colour I wanted. Here is my tip: I buy one big bottle of white paint for 5 euros and then I bought a pack of 12 colours (like the one in the picture) for 2 bucks in a dollar store. I then take some white paint and add some colour to make it how I want it to be. It is a really cheap way to have a variety of colours.

5. Paint your blocks and leave to dry. I like to paint on grease proof paper for easy cleaning. Also, the blocks tend not to stick to the greaseproof paper when drying. Just an idea. I then sanded the edges just to give a more rustic look.

6. Print out your letters.

7. Colour the back of the page with pencil.

8. Trace the letters onto the blocks. Because you coloured the back of the paper with pencil it will leave a nice outline.

9. Neatly (as possible) paint in the letters.

10. To finish off I just added a couple of buttons with my glue gun and wrapped a strip of burlap around one block just because I love burlap!

11. Step back and in enjoy. :-)

I hope you are all having a wonderful week. It feels good to be back!!
