Time Out Tuesday: Japan Crisis.

Normally I would be posting a positive uplifting photo today for time out tuesday, but I think it would be incredily selifish of me today not to use this opportunity to reach out to you all, no matter how small my voice is, about the Japan Crisis.

For those of you who somewhow missed the news these past few days, or are just needing a bit more or a reason to help this cause, here is a video on what has been happening in Japan.

I know that the situation is pretty bad out there. Many have been left without shelter, food or water for up to 4 days in near freezing conditions. Radiation Poisoning is a great fear as the nuclear reactor is in serious danger of a meltdown. On top of all this, there are warnings of a second large earthquake hitting Japan any time.

It's so easy to not feel personally involved when you sit at your computer in safety and carry on thinking about what craft project you want to work on today... which yummy recipe you want to make for dinner tonight... what fun your family can have.... but at the end of the day if it was the other way around I would be hoping and praying that somewhere in the middle of those day to day things people around the world would be thinking of me and trying to help me.

Anyway, so that is why I decided to donate money to the Japan Crisis.

Sachiko from Tea Rose Home is from Japan and has family and friends caught up in the disaster. She has a great post about donating money to the crisis to help out, and her story is personal and raw. Head over there to learn about donating money and also to grab a button for raising awareness for your blog. Click on the button to go there now! :-)

For me personally, I am a member of the LDS church and am donating through the church Humanitarian Services as I know it and trust it. There is no specific fund for the Japan Crisis at the LDS Humanitarian Services at present, but I know that resources and money are being sent to Japan through the General Humanitarian Fund. I also know that compared to other organisations the church gives all money donated to those in need and administration fees are taken from the tithings of church members and not from donations.

I know there are many awesome organisations out there though so no matter where you donate, I know you are doing a great thing!

To donate with the LDS Humanitarian Services go here.
(You do not have to be a member of the church to donate. All donations are welcomed).

WOW! Sorry for the heavy post! But I think you can all appreciate that is something
important. Have a great day!

  1. Thanks for sharing the donation links. In times like these it's so hard to know where best to donate where the money will go to those in need. My good friend(ex-boyfriend, actually)'s wife is from Japan. It took her forever to get confirmation that her family is OK. It's just horrific what's happened, and now with the threat of nuclear meltdown, it's even scarier.

  4. Thanks for posting about this. I started thinking about that today, as I hit publish on my rainbow cupcakes post! ("What am I doing writing about cupcakes, when Japan is suffering so badly!") Hmmm...I guess, I'm still processing.
